Accessing the Event Log With the
Dell™ PowerApp™ Event Log
Viewer
The PowerApp Event Log Viewer is a tool designed to view the last few errors in the
Event Log. When you boot your computer with the
PowerApp Event Log Viewer
dis-
kette, the system copies the contents of the Event Log into a text file named
log.txt
on the diskette. The diskette can then be inserted into another system to view the
text file, or to e-mail the text file to technical support for troubleshooting (if needed). If
there are no entries in the text file, the event log is empty.
A file named
log.ekd
may also be copied to the diskette during boot. This file can be
ignored.
To access the Event Log Viewer, perform the following steps:
1.
Power down your PowerApp appliance.
2.
Insert the
PowerApp Event Log Viewer
diskette into the diskette drive.
NOTE: The PowerApp Event Log Viewer
diskette is included with your PowerApp
system, or the tool can be downloaded at
.
NOTICE: Make sure that the diskette is not write protected before
inserting it into the diskette drive.
