for performance and failover. The best bond to use depends on your network and SAN configuration. Bonding 10 GbE interfaces After installing the 10 GbE upgrade, you have a choice of supported bond configurations. Note that not all the bond configurations which are supported by the HP LeftHand - HP P4000 | HP StorageWorks P4000 Series 1 GbE to 10 GbE Migration Guide (BQ891-9 - Page 8
to volumes. 2. Shut down management group and power off all storage nodes. 3. Install 10 GbE Ethernet adapter and additional memory in each storage node. 4. Power on each storage node and install the appropriate software patch, as described in the P4000 10 GbE Hardware Installation Instructions - HP P4000 | HP StorageWorks P4000 Series 1 GbE to 10 GbE Migration Guide (BQ891-9 - Page 9
required. 7. Reconnect iSCSI sessions and start I/O. Installation prerequisites Check the following two items before starting the migration: • Have compatible VIP addresses for the 10 GbE switches that are running the 10 GbE ALB bond. . 6. Verify that all the storage nodes in the management group are powered OFF. Install the hardware and the software patch Follow the instructions in the appropriate P4000 10 GbE Hardware Installation Instructions to install the 10 GbE network card, additional memory and apply the appropriate - HP P4000 | HP StorageWorks P4000 Series 1 GbE to 10 GbE Migration Guide (BQ891-9 - Page 11
with all SAN/iQ software services running properly, the CMC shows the management group status as Normal). 5. Install the software patch on all the upgraded storage nodes as described in "Upgrading the software" in the P4000 10 GbE Hardware Installation Instructions. The patch installs the required - HP P4000 | HP StorageWorks P4000 Series 1 GbE to 10 GbE Migration Guide (BQ891-9 - Page 12
After the patch is successfully installed, log in to each storage node in the management group and navigate to the TCP/IP Network tab window. You should see two 10GigE devices on the TCP/IP tab. in the CMC. 14. Log in to the management group (if 10 GbE capable While reconnecting to the iSCSI volumes, configure the iSCSI initiator on the host server to communicate via the 10 GbE interface for all iSCSI communication. You have successfully upgraded your existing SAN to 10 GbE. 14 Instructions
