Infrared mode
Default infrared mode
In the BIOS Setup utility, infrared (IR) communication is by default disabled.
When you enable IR communication, the IR mode selected by default is SIR
(Slow Infrared).
To Enable FIR:
1. Run the BIOS Setup utility (Refer to the HP User's Guide for details).
2. In the Advanced menu, highlight the "IrDA port" value and enable it using the
F6 key.
3. Highlight the "Mode" value and change it to "FIR".
4. Highlight the "Base I/O address" and change it to "2F8 IRQ3".
5. Highlight the "DMA channel" value and change it to DMA 3.
6. Exit the BIOS Setup utility, selecting "Exit Saving Changes" in the Exit menu.
7. When Windows restarts, your IrDA device will be set up.
A reboot may be
required.
8. Right-click the "My Network Places" icon on the desktop, and click "Properties".
9. Highlight "IrDA Fast Infrared Port", and click the Properties button.
10. Click the Advanced tab.
11. Highlight "Infrared Transceiver A".
12. Select "HP HSDL-2300/3600" from the dropdown menu.
13. Click the OK button.
A reboot may be required.
14. Follow the instructions in Microsoft Help and Support, "To establish an infrared
link".
