Proper Disposal of Waste Batteries
Some of the substances necessary for the proper functioning of batteries are considered harmful to the
environment and to human health. It is therefore important that those substances be kept out of the
environment.
You play an important role in the protection of the environment:
1.
Keep all waste batteries out of unsorted trash.
2.
Dispose of all waste batteries in separate collection for treatment and recycling.
Please contact Intermec for the collection option(s) available in your location.
Marking of the battery:
1.
The wheeled-bin symbol indicates the requirement for separate collection of the battery.
2.
Two letters shown underneath the wheeled bin indicate the presence of a certain substance:
a.
Hg means Mercury is present
b.
Cd means Cadmium is present
c.
Pb means Lead is present
3.
The Moebius loop (chasing arrows) indicates that the battery is recyclable.

Important Recommendations

Charge the battery before use.
y
See “Charging the Battery” for approved charging methods. Use of this
battery in other devices could result in damage to the device or battery.
y
The temperature range for charging batteries is 0 °C to 40 °C (32 °F to
104 °F). Do not charge battery packs outside this range. For maximum
battery life, charge batteries at 23 °C (73 °F).
y
Do not store the battery at temperatures above 50 °C (122 °F), such
as inside a car on a hot day or in direct sunlight, as this may damage
the battery.
y
Battery usage by children should be supervised

Do not disassemble or open, crush, bend or deform, puncture, shred, or
burn.
y
Do not modify the battery or attempt to insert foreign objects into the
battery.
y
Do not solder directly to the battery contacts.
y
Do not immerse the battery in water.
y
Do not short circuit the battery. Keep the battery connector away from
metallic items.
y
Do not apply mechanical shocks or pressure to the battery.
y
Avoid dropping the battery or the printer. If you suspect that the
battery or printer is damaged, send it to an Intermec service center
for inspection.
y
Replace battery only with another Model 1013AB01 or 1013AB02
battery. These batteries have been tested in accordance with applicable
safety
standards. Contact your Intermec sales representative or
distributor if this battery is no longer available.
y
Discarded batteries may create a safety hazard. Before disposal,
cover the battery connector with electrical insulating tape.

PR2 and PR3 Battery Instructions
Using the Battery
The Model 1013AB01 and 1013AB02 batteries are rechargeable
lithium-ion batteries designed for use in the PR2 and PR3 Mobile
Receipt Printers.
Charging the Battery
You can charge the 1013AB01 and 1013AB02 batteries with these
Intermec-approved battery charging accessories:

Dual Base (Model 1002UU02) (with 1002UC09)
y
Quad Base (Model 1002UU04) (with 1002UC09)
You can charge a 1013AB01 or 1013AB02 battery installed in a
PR2 or PR3 with these accessories:

Dual Base (Model 1002UU02) (with 1002UD09)
y
Quad Base (Model 1002UU04) (with 1002UD09)
y
AC Power Supply (Model CPS024100240)
y
Vehicle Power Adapter (Model AE38)
You can charge a battery after partial discharge without affecting
the original battery capacity. The maximum charging time for a
fully discharged battery is 4 hours. (Two batteries in a Dual Base
or Quad Base with 1002UC09 may take up to 6 hours.) It may take
less time to charge the battery depending on the battery charge
level.
