Important Recommendations
Charge the battery before use.
y
See “Charging the Battery” for approved charging methods. Use of
y
this
battery in other devices could result in damage to the device or
battery.
The temperature range for charging batteries is 0°C to 35°C (32°F to
y
95°F). Do not charge battery packs outside this range. For maximum
battery life, charge batteries at 23°C (73°F).
Do not store the battery at temperatures above 60°C (140°F), such
y
as inside a car on a hot day or in direct sunlight, as this may damage
the battery.
Battery usage by children should be supervised
y
.
Do not disassemble or open, crush, bend or deform, puncture, shred,
y
or
burn.
Do not modify the battery or attempt to insert foreign objects into the
y
battery.
Do not solder directly to the battery contacts.
y
Do not immerse the battery in water.
y
Do not short circuit the battery. Keep the battery connector away
y
from metallic items.
Do not apply mechanical shocks or pressure to the battery.
y
Avoid dropping the battery or the SF51. If you suspect that the battery
y
or SF51 is damaged, send it to an Intermec service center for
inspection.

y
Replacing the Battery
Warning: Opening the SF51 will void the warranty and
may cause damage to internal components.
Integrated circuits on printed circuit boards (PCBs) in this
equipment are sensitive to damage by electrostatic discharge
(ESD). Prevent ESD by always wearing skin contact ground
straps firmly attached to the equipment metal base assembly
when working inside of the equipment housing. Failure to
comply may result in damage to PCB components.
1
Remove the three screws from the SF51 bottom case.
2
Slowly open, but do not entirely separate, the top and bottom cases.
Leave the LED connector attached to the PCB.
