SF61 Battery Instructions

1. Loosen the screw holding the battery cover.

2. Remove battery cover.

3. Gently disconnect the battery cable and remove the battery.

4. Install the new battery.

5. Install the battery cover and tighten the screw.

Important Recommendations

Charge the battery before use .

y

Do not short circuit the battery, and keep it away from metallic

items.

y

Do not drop the battery or apply mechanical shocks or

pressure to

it.

y

Discarded batteries may create a safety hazard. Before disposal,

cover the battery connector with electrical insulating tape.

y

Do not disassemble or dispose of in fire.

y

Do not store the battery at temperatures above 60°C (140°F), such

as inside a car on a hot day or in direct sunlight, as this may

damage the battery.

y

Do not immerse the battery in water or get the battery wet.

y

Do not solder directly to the battery contacts.

y

Use Intermec battery 1016AB01 only with a SF61. Use of

this

battery in other devices could result in damage to the device or

battery.

y

For maximum battery life, the temperature range for charging

batteries is 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F).

Charging the Battery

Always fully charge a new battery in your SF61 scanner before

using it. Batteries can be charged after a partial discharge without

affecting the original battery capacity. A fully discharged battery

charges in approximately 3 hours.

You can charge the scanner with one of these accessories:

Replacing the Battery

Integrated circuits on printed circuit boards (PCBs) in

this equipment are sensitive to damage by electrostatic

discharge (ESD). Prevent ESD by always wearing skin

contact ground straps firmly attached to the equipment

metal base assembly when working inside of the

equipment housing. Failure to comply may result in

damage to PCB components.
