TESTED, CERTIFIED AND SUPPORTED

Certification establishes a relationship between Lenovo® and leading vendors of operating systems

that are selected for installation into ThinkServer® systems. Through certification, ThinkServer systems

are tested with a defined code distribution to ensure that all basic functions work. Certification is part

of Lenovo’s commitment to providing customers with the information necessary to utilize particular

operating systems.

THROUGH CERTIFICATION, LENOVO IS ABLE TO:

• Test leading vendors’ products for compatibility with ThinkServer systems

• Improve ease of installation

• Help reduce total cost of ownership

Certified vendors agree to work closely with Lenovo’s engineers during product test cycles and over product lifecycles. Lenovo is committed

to resolving problems before they have the opportunity to materialize and ultimately affect you. As part of certification, a set of solution

building blocks—specific devices and applications—are tested in one or more operating system environments. This allows customers to

build a complete server solution. The following compatibility testing by Lenovo and its participating vendors can help reduce the total cost of

ownership by cutting down installation and setup time:

• Discovery testing

The tested platform is analyzed for any compatibility issues with the tested distribution and a determination is made on the steps necessary

for each tested distribution to fully function on the tested platform

• Certification testing

Industry-standard testing is performed for the tested components of the tested platform

• Certification reporting

Certification results are published on the distributor or test facility web site. Workarounds and the steps necessary to get a given function

to work (if it is not fully supported) are also identified In addition to certification, Lenovo has performed compatibility testing with various

operating systems and supports running the following operating systems on Lenovo ThinkServer products.

The operating systems of four major code distributors have been identified for certification on ThinkServer® systems:

• Red Hat®

• VMware®

Each recognizes Lenovo® ThinkServer as a compatible and supported platform for its soſtware
