REDUCING FLASH Significantly reduces the phenomenon of "red-eye" (when a subject's eyes appear red in flash photography). In the flash mode, the camera will fire a series of low-power preflashes before the regular flash. Red-eye reduction may not be effective when the subject: 1. Difficult-to-Autofocus Subjects Although this camera's autofocus system can lock on virtually any subject, under certain conditions, such as ~ below, it may not lock on the correct subject even if the shutter releases.
