Police and Taxi Vehicles: Replace rear axle lubricant every 160,000 kilometers (100,000 miles). Rear axle lubricant change may be waived if the axle was filled with 75W130 synthetic gear lubricant meeting Ford specification WSL-M2C192-A, part number F1TZ-19580-B or equivalent. Add four ounces of additive friction modifier C8AZ-19B546-A (EST-M2C118-A) or equivalent for complete refill of Traction-Lok rear axles. The rear axle lubricant should be changed anytime the axle has been submerged in water. At 96,000 km (60,000 miles) your dealer will replace the PCV valve at no cost except on Canadian and California vehicles. 5,000 KILOMETERS (3,000 MILES) u Change engine oil and replace oil filter. Inspect and lubricate automatic transmission shift linkage. Inspect exhaust system for leaks, damage or loose parts. Remove any foreign material trapped by exhaust system shielding. NOTE: It is normal for a certain amount of moisture and staining to be present around the muffler seams. The presence of soot, light surface rust or moisture does not indicate a faulty muffler.
