1-2. Opening, closing and locking the doors n If the power back door does not work The back door must be initialized. To initialize, close the back door completely by hand. n Back door closer (vehicles with power back door) In the event that the back door is left slightly open, the back door closer will automatically close it to the fully closed position. n Fall-down protection function (vehicles with power back door) While the power back door is opening automatically, applying excessive force to it will stop the opening operation to prevent the power back door from rapidly falling down. n Customization that can be configured at Toyota dealer Settings (e.g. wireless remote control) can be changed. (Customizable features →P. 582) 1 Before driving CAUTION Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury. n Caution while driving Keep the back door closed. If the back door is open, the luggage will be thrown out and exhaust gases will enter the vehicle. n Operating the power back door l Check to make sure that passengers do not have any part of their body in a position where it could be caught or hit when the back door is being operated. l Careful attention is needed so as not to get your fingers trapped as the back door automatically closes when it has not been fully closed. l Do not allow children to operate the back door. Closing the back door on someone can cause serious injury, and in some instances, even death. 75
