Page 80 highlights

The following two items appear only when you set the OnChip SATA Channel item to [Enabled]. SATA Port1 - Port4 [IDE] Sets the configuration for the Serial ATA connectors supported by the Southbridge chip. Configuration options: [IDE] [RAID] [AHCI] • If you want to use the Serial ATA hard disk drives as Parallel ATA physical storage devices, keep the default setting [IDE]. • If you want to create RAID sets with the PROMISE® RAID utility from the Serial ATA hard disk drives, set this item to [RAID]. • If you want the Serial ATA hard disk drives to use the Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI), set this item to [AHCI]. The AHCI allows the onboard storage driver to enable advanced Serial ATA features that increases storage performance on random workloads by allowing the drive to internally optimize the order of commands. • When this item is set [AHCI], the information of the SATA connectors 1-6 can be seen only under the OS environment or during POST. SATA Port5 - Port6 [IDE] Setting this item to [IDE] instead of [AHCI] allows the system to recognize the optical dirves connected to the SATA connectors 5 or 6 when installing OS. If you use a SATA optical drive to run the OS installation disk, we strongly recommend that you install the optical dirve to the SATA connectors 5/6 and set them to [IDE] mode. 5.3.5 System Information This menu gives you an overview of the general system specifications.
