Installation and Configuration 5-15 Figure 5-6 shows the redundant Ethernet cluster interconnect components used in a PDC/O1000 with two or more nodes. Redundant Ethernet cluster interconnect for a two-node PDC/O1000 cluster These components include two dual-port Ethernet adapters in each cluster node. The top port on each adapter connects by Ethernet cable to one of two Ethernet switches or hubs provided for the cluster interconnect. The bottom port on each adapter connects by Ethernet cable to the client LAN for the cluster. A crossover cable is installed between the two Ethernet switches or hubs used in the Ethernet cluster interconnect. For clusters of three or more nodes using a redundant Ethernet cluster interconnect, Compaq requires that you use two Ethernet 100-Mbit/sec switches to maintain good network performance across the cluster. If there are only two nodes in a cluster, you can use either Ethernet hubs or switches and standard Ethernet cables to connect the nodes. For more information on configuring Ethernet connections in a redundant or non-redundant cluster interconnect, including enabling failover from one Ethernet path to another, see Supported Ethernet Interconnects for Compaq Parallel Database Clusters Using Oracle Parallel Server at www.compaq.com/support/techpubs/whitepapers
