www.dell.com | support.dell.com Full core dumps RP core dumps are enabled by default. CP core dumps are disabled by default. The core dump file is sent by FTP to the internal flash in the CORE_DUMP_DIR directory once the crashed RPM is back up. Enable full RPM application and kernel core dumps with the following: Task Enable RPM core dumps and specify the shutdown mode. Command Syntax logging coredump [cp|rps|server] Command Mode CONFIGURATION Undo this command using the no logging coredump [cp|rps|server]. By default the core dump is sent to the internal flash CP and the CORE_DUMP_DIR directory for RP. However, you can also write the RP core dump file directly to an FTP server the keyword server. CP core dumps cannot be sent directly to an FTP server. The full RPM kernel core dumps for CP and for RP1/RP2 are located in the CORE_DUMP_DIR directory with the name f10{cp|rp{1|2}}.kcore.gz. The full RPM application core dumps for CP and for RP1/RP2 are located in the CORE_DUMP_DIR directory with the name f10{cp|rp{1|2}}.acore.gz. If a raw partition is present, the kernel and application core dump files can be deleted if the flash is full. However, if the raw partition is not present, manually generated will be deleted on the Standby RPM, but the space is not released. The CP kernel core dump file space cannot be recovered by deleting the files. You must format the flash drive to recover the space. Note: The core dump file can be large and may take up to 5 to 30 minutes to upload. FTOS does not overwrite application core dumps, so you should delete them as necessary to conserve space on the flash; if the flash is out of memory, the core dump is aborted. The FTOS High Availability module is aware of the core dump upload, and it does not reboot the crashed RPM until the core dump has completed or is aborted. Mini core dumps The RPM mini application and kernel core dumps are always enabled. A mini core dump contains critical information in the case that a full core dump is not successful, as shown in Figure 63-18. After RPM reset, the mini core FTP-to-RPM flash process takes about 5 seconds. New files are written in flash until space is exhausted, in which case the write is aborted. Mini RPM core dump files are located in the CORE_DUMP_DIR directory with the name f10cp.kcore.mini.txt (for the kernel) and f10cp.acore.mini.txt (for the application). 1264 | E-Series ExaScale Debugging and Diagnostics

Full core dumps

RP core dumps are

enabled

by default. CP core dumps are

disabled

by default. The core dump file is sent

by FTP to the internal flash in the CORE_DUMP_DIR directory once the crashed RPM is back up. Enable

full RPM application and kernel core dumps

with the following:

no logging coredump [cp|rps|server].

However, you can also write the RP core dump

If a raw partition is present, the kernel and application core dump files can be deleted if the flash is full.

However, if the raw partition is not present, manually generated will be deleted on the Standby RPM, but

the space is not released. The CP kernel core dump file space cannot be recovered by deleting the files.

You must format the flash drive to recover the space.

The FTOS High Availability module is aware of the core dump upload, and it does not reboot the crashed

RPM until the core dump has completed or is aborted.

Mini core dumps

The RPM mini application and kernel core dumps are always enabled. A mini core dump contains critical

information in the case that a full core dump is not successful, as shown in

Figure 63-18

. After RPM reset,

the mini core FTP-to-RPM flash process takes about 5 seconds. New files are written in flash until space is

exhausted, in which case the write is aborted. Mini RPM core dump files are located in the

CORE_DUMP_DIR directory with the name

f10cp.kcore.mini.txt

(for the kernel) and

f10cp.acore.mini.txt

(for the application).

The core dump file can be large and may take up to 5 to 30 minutes to upload. FTOS does not

overwrite application core dumps, so you should delete them as necessary to conserve space on the flash;

if the flash is out of memory, the core dump is aborted.
