Work with your infrastructure administrator to plan and collect the information for your PowerStore initial configuration. Visit the
PowerStore Technical Documentation page at
https://dell.com/powerstoredocs
for more information on installing and configuring
your system.
Before you begin
For resource management, efficiency, and availability purposes, PowerStore appliances are configured together as a single
component called a PowerStore cluster. Ensure that a cluster only consists of all PowerStore T model or all PowerStore X
model appliances. In this release, you can only have one PowerStore X model appliance or up to four PowerStore T model
appliances in a cluster.
Each cluster requires several unique networks/VLANs and a specific number of IP addresses for each network. Refer to
the
PowerStore Network Planning Guide
to determine all your network requirements.
For PowerStore X model appliances, ensure that you do not change the preprogrammed ESXi root password before the
create cluster operation completes. The default ESXi password is uniquely configured for each PowerStore X model
appliance, and it is used when a cluster is formed. The password is used to authenticate with the ESXi host when the
nodes in the appliance are added to a vCenter cluster. If you change the default password before the cluster is fully
configured, the create cluster operation will fail and you will have to reinitialize the system.
