Store your diskettes properly. When you are not using them, keep your diskettes in their protective envelopes and store them in a diskette container. Do not place anything on top of your diskettes, and do not bend them. A diskette will not rotate properly in the drive if it has been damaged. Never wipe, brush, or try to clean diskettes in any way. Be careful when you label your diskettes. Attach your labels firmly but gently, and only along the top of the diskette (next to the manufacturer's label). Do not stack labels on top of one another too many labels can prevent the diskette from spinning freely in the disk drive. It is best to write on the label before you attach it to a diskette. If you must write on a label that is already on a diskette, use only a soft-tip pen, not a ballpoint pen or a pencil. Do not remove a diskette from the disk drive or turn off the computer while the drive light is on. The light you see indicates that the computer is copying data to or from a diskette, If you interrupt this process, you can destroy data. Remove all diskettes from the disk drives before you turn off the computer. Using Diskettes and Disk Drives 3-5
