How to maintain your vacuum cleaner ! Make sure vacuum cleaner is turned off and power cord is unplugged Maintain brush roll Motor can become hot with normal use. Do not remove end caps. Remove hair and threads from brush roll monthly Check U belt. Replace if worn, cut or out of shape. ! Avoid touching the motor shaft when checking brush roll or belt. How to replace brush roll or belt 1) Use handle release to lower handle flat onto floor (Fig. 1). Fig. 1 Fig. 2 2) Remove 2 screws from the front side of brush roll cover (Fig. 2). 3) Lift and remove brush roll cover (Fig. 3). 4) Remove brush roll and belt. Thread new belt around motor shaft and right end of brush roll (Fig. 4). 5) Pull right side of brush roll to stretch belt. Secure right end cap into base (Fig. 5). Align left end cap with square in base and push into place. Fig. 3 Fig. 4 6) Rotate brush roll 2 turns to center belt (Fig. 6). 7) Replace brush roll cover and 2 screws (Fig. 2). How to clear debris from brush roll 1) Refer to Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3. 2) Use scissors to clip hair and threads (Fig 7). 3) Replace brush roll and 2 screws (Fig. 2). Fig. 5 Fig. 6 How to adjust for carpet height 1) Adjust height setting for high, medium, or low carpet (Fig 8). 2) If vacuum is not cleaning carpet, turn knob to lower position.
