Getting Started Getting Started Garmin GHS Series Handsets Use a Garmin GHS handset to operate all VHF 300 model radios. PTT (Push-to-talk)-press to exit the current menu and return to the Home screen to begin broadcasting. DISTRESS-lift the spring-loaded door and press the DISTRESS key to start a Digital Selective Calling (DSC) distress call if you have programmed your radio with an MMSI number.
