TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS Troubleshooting Tips... Before you call for service Problem Moisture forms on outside of cabinet Interior light does not work Lid won't fully close by itself Slow starting time after being off Excessive frost buildup Freezer external surface temperature is warm Louder sound levels whenever freezer is on Higher sound levels when compressor comes on Popping or cracking sound when compressor comes on Bubbling or gurgling sound, like boiling water Moisture forms on inside freezer walls Odors in freezer Possible Causes Not unusual during periods of high humidity. Lid may not be seating properly, causing cold air from inside the freezer to meet warm moist air from the outside. No power at outlet. Freezer is unplugged. Package holding lid open. Built-in overload protection. Lid left open. Too frequent or too long lid openings. Not unusual during periods of high humidity. The external freezer walls can be as much as 30°F warmer than room temperature. Modern freezers have increased storage capacity and more stable temperatures. They require a highefficiency compressor. Freezer operates at higher pressures during the start of the ON cycle. Metal parts undergo expansion and contraction, as in hot water pipes. Refrigerant (used to cool freezer) is circulating throughout the system. Weather is hot and humid, which increases internal rate of frost buildup. Lid may not be seating properly. Lid is kept open too long, or is opened too frequently. Interior needs to be cleaned. Foods with strong odors are in the freezer. What To Do Wipe surface dry. See Preparing to install the freezer. Replace fuse or reset the breaker. Push the plug completely into the outlet. Move package to a different location. This is normal after being off. Check to see if package is holding lid open.
