5-1-3 Configuring Marvell 9128 SATA Controller A. Installing SATA hard drive(s) in your computer Attach one end of the SATA signal cable to the rear of the SATA hard drive and the other end to available SATA port on the motherboard. The Marvell 9128 SATA controller controls the GSATA3_6/7 ports on the motherboard. Then connect the power connector from your power supply to the hard drive. B. Configuring SATA controller and RAID mode in BIOS Setup Make sure to configure the SATA controller mode correctly in system BIOS Setup. Step 1: Turn on your computer and press to enter BIOS Setup during the POST (Power-On Self-Test). Make sure GSATA Controller under the Integrated Peripherals menu is enabled. Then set GSATA Ctrl Mode to IDE or AHCI, depending on your requirements (Figure 1). (In AHCI mode, installation of the SATA AHCI driver is required during Windows XP installation. Refer to section, "5-1-4" for more information.) Step 2: To create a RAID array, press on the GSATA RAID Configuration item (Figure 1) to enter the RAID configuration menu. Skip this step if you do not want to create RAID.
