The air is cleaned in four stages: 1. The fan draws room air into the unit through the air inlet grille. 2. Air then passes through the unit's carbon filter, which assists in eliminating odors. 3. The HEPA-grade permanent filter then removes particles, as small as 5 microns at 99% effectiveness, from air passing through the filter. 4. The purified air is then released back into the room through the air outlet grille. This product earned the ENERGY STAR® by meeting strict energy-efficiency guidelines set by the US EPA.
