Note Sending a fax using the control panel You can send a fax using the control panel. If you installed the software and your computer is on, the Document Assistant appears on the computer screen when you load a document in the document feeder tray. As soon as you start the fax using the control panel, the Document Assistant disappears. To send a fax using the control panel 1 After the fax is loaded in the document feeder tray, dial the fax number using the numeric keys. Include any pauses or other needed numbers, such as an area code, an access code for numbers outside a PBX system (usually a 9 or 0), or a long distance prefix. 2 Press START to begin faxing. Check your work Does the control panel display say 1 PAGE SENT and then return to the READY state? t Yes. Go to "Exploring the software" on page 63. t No. Do the following: • If there is an error message on the control panel display, correct the problem indicated. Then, try resending the fax. • Ask someone you know to send a fax to you to confirm you can receive faxes. • See the Troubleshooting and Maintenance chapter of the user guide for more information. Sending a fax using the control panel
You can send a fax using the control panel. If you installed the
software and your computer is on, the Document Assistant appears
on the computer screen when you load a document in the document

To send a fax using the control panel

Check your work
Does the control panel display say

and then return to

state?
Yes.
Go to “Exploring the software” on page 63.
No.
Do the following:
If there is an error message on the control panel display,
correct the problem indicated. Then, try resending the fax.
Ask someone you know to send a fax to you to confirm you
can receive faxes.
See the Troubleshooting and Maintenance chapter of the user
guide for more information.
When you are ready, Go to “Exploring the software” on page 63.
