1 Introduction This document guides you through the steps of installing HP 3PAR Policy Server. After you have installed a new Policy Server, see the HP 3PAR Policy Server Administration Guide for information about starting the Policy Server components (if you did not start them at the end of installation), setting up user security, configuring asset groups and policies, backing up and restoring the Policy Server database, and troubleshooting Tomcat. That guide also contains the listing of the installed directories and files for Policy Server and its components as well as information about editing the configuration files for Policy Server components. Complete information for using the Policy Server application is included in the online help for the application. Installed with Policy Server, help is accessible from each page of the application. NOTE: The terms "asset" and "device" are synonymous. You will see both terms used in the user interfaces, APIs, and documentation for HP 3PAR Policy Server. When used in a new section without a previous use of "Policy Agent" or "Agent gateway", the term "Agent" refers to both Agents. An Agent gateway manages multiple devices, while a Policy Agent manages only the device where it is installed. See HP 3PAR Policy Server Release Notes for platform support information. 4 Introduction
