NOTE: HP recommends that you not mix switch firmware versions in a SAN. It is a best practice to uniformly upgrade all switches in the SAN. Multiple-path support The VMware operating system includes multiple-path support. No additional software is required to achieve high-availability, multipath capability. For detailed VMware multipath information, see the vmkmultipath description in the ESX Server Administrator's Guide. NOTE: Secure Path and other MPIO software solutions are not supported with VMware. Operating constraints For information about operating constraints for the EVA4000/6000/8000 hardware and HP StorageWorks Command View EVA, see their release notes. Storage System Scripting Utility for EVA The latest version of the Storage System Scripting Utility (SSSU) is available on the HP storage web site: http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storage/software/cmdvieweva/index.html From this web site, click Software & drivers. NOTE: The SSSU cannot run from an ESX or a GSX server. You must use a server running an SSSU-supported guest Virtual Machine operating software, such as Windows® or Linux. Custom host mode for VMware hosts For controller software 5.10, ensure that the host connection type is set to VMware. To verify the host mode: 1. Start HP Command View EVA and select the appropriate Host icon in the Host folder. 2. Click the General tab on the host properties page. 3. Verify that VMware is selected as the Operating System Type. 4000/6000/8000 Enterprise Virtual Array connectivity 5.1A for VMware 5
