Printed in Puerto Rico www.hp.com Before you begin Observe the following precautions when replacing a fan module. CAUTION: Removing a fan module significantly changes the air flow within the enclosure. Both fan modules must be installed for the enclosure to cool properly. Do not remove both fans simultaneously with the enclosure powered on. If a single fan module fails, leave it in place in the enclosure until a new fan is available to install. The remaining fan module will speed up and allow operation for a limited time based on operating and environmental conditions. If a temperature threshold is exceeded, the enclosure automatically shuts down. Parts can be damaged by electrostatic discharge. Use proper anti-static protection. Refer to the documentation that shipped with your system for additional information. • Port (purple)-colored handles on components like the fan module indicate the component is hot-swappable. This fan module can be removed and replaced without having to power the system down. • There are two fan modules under the bezel on the front of the controller enclosure. See Figure 1 for the locations. • Your controller enclosure model may vary slightly from what is illustrated in this document. *593092-001* 1. Fan 1 2. Fan 2 Figure 1 Fan module locations . Page 1
