Page 2 highlights

All platen-based printers require calibration of the media advance mechanism in order to achieve the best output results. This calibration is separate from any automated calibration procedures available on the printer (AutoSet, etc.). Complete detail on how to perform the media advance calibration varies somewhat by printer model. Consult the User Guide documentation provided with your printer. If you are unable to locate your copy of the printer's documentation, PDF versions of all printer manuals are available in the User Documentation section of the web site, http:// www.colorspan.com. Calibration of the media advance has three steps: printing calibration marks, measuring distance between marks, and entering the measured value into the printer's control panel. An accurate measurement, with precision either to 0.5 mm (metric system) or 1/32" (U.S. Standard system) is crucial to the process. Greater precision is helpful but not required. The target measurement length is 900mm or 34 inches, so a standard meterstick or yardstick that meets the degree of precision indicated above is sufficient. The use of devices shorter than 900mm or 34 inches is not recommended and will reduce the accuracy of the calibration. We have identified several vendors with measuring devices suitable to this application. Costs and part numbers shown are accurate at time of publication.
