Configure SNMP from the OA WebGUI: 1. Login to the OA Web GUI and go to the SNMP Settings page from the Enclosure Settings page for each enclosure. System Information (Information about the Enclosure's SNMP system) Subcategory 2. In the, Select the Enable SNMP checkbox. 3. Enter the System Location (e.g. HP Lab USA), System Contact ( Name of an individual or group). 4. Enter the Read Community (Client can only read information but not to manipulate the alerts or status through SNMP).The default community name is "public". 5. Enter the Write Community (Client can manipulate alerts of SD2 OA status through SNMP).You can remotely clear alerts and mark them as "viewed" or otherwise through their SNMP management client through the SNMP agents. The default value for the Write Community string is blank. 6. Click the Apply to save settings. SNMP Alert Destinations Subcategory 1. Enter the IP Address of the trap receiver management client. 2. Enter the Community String for the specified management client. By default it is "public". Community String is a text string that acts as a password. It is used to authenticate messages that are sent between HP SIM and Onboard Administrator 3. After the IP address and community string is entered, click Add. A maximum of eight SNMP alert destinations can be added. 4. Click Send Test Alert to send a test SNMP trap to all of the configured trap destinations. HP SIM should pick up SNMP Traps without needing additional information if the Traps use the default public community string. HP SIM receiving a Trap will trigger a discovery of the originating system so that HP SIM can add it to the servers it monitors if it was not configured to discover that system beforehand. SNMP Traps are easy and require no subscriptions. 14
