DIMM installation and configuration guidelines DIMM population order and configuration is critical in maximizing performance for the system. Component LED definitions Many common problems can be identified by reviewing the component and server LEDs. For more information, see the server and component documentation on the HP website (http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc). SAS, SATA, and SSD drive guidelines When adding drives to the server, observe the following general guidelines: • Drives must be the same capacity to provide the greatest storage space efficiency when drives are grouped together into the same drive array. • Drives in the same logical volume must be of the same type. ACU does not support mixing SAS, SATA, and SSD drives in the same logical volume. The drive carrier firmware is being updated or requires an update. Drive activity No drive activity Do not remove the drive. Removing the drive causes one or more of the logical drives to fail. Removing the drive does not cause a logical drive to fail. The drive is a member of one or more logical drives. The drive is rebuilding or performing a RAID migration, stripe size migration, capacity expansion, or logical drive extension, or is erasing. The drive is a member of one or more logical drives and predicts the drive will fail. Common problem resolution 18
