power supplies and fans to maintain total flexibility. The HP ProLiant SL6500 Scalable System consists of: • A full-width, rack-mountable ProLiant s6500 4U chassis • Up to eight half-width 1U or four half-width 2U server trays, containing a mother board with industry-standard processors, Double Data - HP ProLiant SL390s | HP ProLiant SL6500 Scalable System technologies - Page 3
to ensure adequate cooling of the other trays. The chassis has no midplane. The I/O connectors for each server are at the front of the chassis for easy servicing and unrestricted airflow. G7 1U half-width server tray The SL390s G7 2U half-width server tray works well in balanced GPU and compute intensive HPC computing. It supports a single, low profile PCIe 2.0 x8 slot and three internal PCIe 2.0 x16 slots dedicated for GPUs, consuming up to 225 watts each (Figure 4). Up to eight independent SL170z G6 server trays fit into the s6500 chassis. Each server tray supports up - HP ProLiant SL390s | HP ProLiant SL6500 Scalable System technologies - Page 7
Figure 5. HP ProLiant SL170s G6 server tray Memory technologies The SL6500 system uses DDR3 memory with options for memory mirroring and memory channel interleaving. You use the G6 or G7 server ROM-based setup utility (RBSU) to control these options.
