Installation Installing and upgrading from a previous Fabric Manager version You can upgrade to Fabric Manager 5.3.0a only from versions 5.1.x, 5.2.x or 5.3.0; all configuration data is migrated to 5.3.0a. Upgrading Fabric Manager from 5.1.x or 5.2.x to 5.3.0 does not require a new Fabric Manager license. Installation instructions are provided for the following operating systems: • Microsoft Windows • Solaris • Linux See the Fabric Manager Administrator's Guide for additional data migration and install information. CAUTION: When you install Fabric Manager on a Linux system from CD disk 2, the installer may exit abruptly. Restart the installer to complete the installation successfully. NOTE: HP recommends taking a backup of the database before starting the upgrade through the Server Management Console. If the upgrade fails, re-run the installer to install the older version of Fabric Manager. To do this, stop the Fabric Manager services, restore the backed-up database, start the services, and then try the upgrade operation again. Installing Fabric Manager on Windows (server) 1. Insert the Fabric Manager CD, disk 1, into the CD-ROM drive. 8
