PRIV_NETADMIN
The PRIV_NETADMIN privilege enables you to perform all
network-related administrative tasks.
See
DL_SET_PHYS_ADDR_REQ
on page 96
DL_HP_HW_RESET_REQ
on page 89 and
DL_HP_RESET_STATS_REQ
on page 90
HP DLPI checks for the above privileges, instead of checking for root
user. Starting HP-UX 11i v3, the root user has all the 3 privileges,
mentioned above. However non-root users must be granted these
privileges as appropriate, when running HP DLPI applications that
perform privileged operations.
NOTE
If the required fine-grained privileges are not granted to these HP DLPI
applications , the APIs may return DL_SYSERR with EPERM Unix
error number.
For more information on the fine grained privileges, see
HP-UX 11i
Security Containment Administrator
s Guide.
NOTE
The HP ATM adapter provides its own
native
DLPI provider, which
should not be confused with this DLPI provider.
Currently, HP DLPI does not include:
Quality of Service (QOS) management
Connection Management STREAMS, DL_SUBS_BIND_REQ, and
DL_SUBS_UNBIND_REQ over connection-oriented STREAMS
Acknowledged connectionless-mode services
