PLEASE READ AND SAVE THESE IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following: 1. NEVER place humidifier in an area where it is accessible to children. NEVER use humidifier in a closed room, particularly where a child may be sleeping, resting, or playing (a closed room may result in excessive humidity). 6. WARNING: Do not attempt to refill humidifier without first unplugging the unit from its electrical outlet. Failure to heed this warning may cause personal injury. Be sure to unplug the unit by pulling on the plug and not the cord. 7. Never place anything over moisture outlet when the unit is running. 8. NEVER drop or insert any object into any openings. 9. DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, after the appliance malfunctions, or if it has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to manufacturer for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair. 10. Use appliance only for intended household use as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause hazards. 11. DO NOT use outdoors. 12. Always place humidifier on a firm, flat, level surface. A waterproof mat or pad is recommended for use under the humidifier. NEVER place it on a rug or carpet, or on a finished floor that may be damaged by exposure to water or moisture. 13. DO NOT allow the Moisture Outlet to directly face the wall. Moisture could cause damage, particularly to wall paper. 14. Humidifier should be unplugged when not in use. 15. NEVER tilt, move, or attempt to empty unit while it is operating. Shut off and unplug before removing the water tank and moving the unit. 16. This humidifier requires daily and weekly maintenance to operate appropriately. Refer to daily and weekly cleaning procedures. Use only cleaners and additives recommended by the manufacturer. 17. NEVER use detergents, gasoline, glass cleaner, furniture polish, paint thinner, or other household solvents to clean any part of the humidifier. 18. Excessive humidity in a room can cause water condensation on windows and some furniture. If this happens, turn the humidifier OFF. 19. Do not use humidifier in an area where humidity level is in excess of 50%. Use a hygrometer, available at your local retailer or through the manufacturer, to measure the humidity. 20. DO NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this unit. Doing so will void your warranty. The inside of the unit contains no user serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed by qualified personnel only. 21. Never place housing under water flow or immerse in liquids. THIS APPLIANCE HAS A POLARIZED PLUG (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MODIFY THIS PLUG OR DEFEAT THIS SAFETY FEATURE IN ANY WAY. FEATURES - OPERATIONS 22. Do not plug in the cord with wet hands: electric shock could result. 23. Do not pour water in any openings other than the water tank. 24. To prevent damage to surfaces, do not place humidifier under overhanging surfaces. 25. NEVER operate unit without water in the tank. 26. Do not move unit after it has been used until unit cools completely. 27. Use both hands when carrying full tank of water. NOTE: If moisture forms on the walls or windows of the room, turn off the humidifier. The room already has plenty of humidity and additional moisture may cause damage. NOTE: DO NOT block air inlet or outlet. Cord and Plug Installation Safety Instructions: The length of cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in, or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary an approved extension cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the humidifier (refer to the rating information placed on the humidifier). Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over. FCC STATEMENT Potential for Radio/Television interference This device complies with Part 18 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. This product has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 18 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. The product generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that the interference will not occur in a particular installation. If the product does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the product on or off, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. • Increase the separation between the product and the receiver. • Connect the product into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. • Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. FEATURES - OPERATIONS PRE-OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Be sure the humidifier is switched off (knob turned all the way to the left). 2. Select a location for your humidifier, on a flat level surface about 4 inch away from the wall. DO NOT place the humidifier on a finished floor or near furniture, which can be damaged by too much moisture or water. Place on a moisture resistant surface. 3. Remove the tank from the main housing. 4. Bring the tank to the sink, turn upside down and twist off the tank cap by turning counter clockwise. Fill tank with cool, fresh tap water. DO NOT fill with warm water as this may cause leaking. Replace the cap on tank FIRMLY. The tank will hold 1/3 gallon of water. The humidifier will produce up to 1 gallon of mist water over a 24-hour time period. 5. Place tank back on to the base. The tank will immediately begin to empty into the base. 6. Plug the humidifier into a 120V electrical outlet. WARNING: DO NOT move the humidifier with water in the tank or the humidifier base. The moving action of the water may activate the water tank's release nozzle and overfill the transducer cavity. This may cause the humidifier to function intermittently, or stop emitting mist. Should this occur, simply remove the excess water from the humidifier base. IMPORTANT: If you do not plan to use your humidifier for two or more days, make sure any residual water is drained from the water tank and base to prevent any algae or bacteria growth in stagnant water. Make sure the tank is dry. NOTE: To avoid white dust use only distilled water especially if: A) you suffer from respiratory problems or B) you live in an area where the water has a high mineral content. Figure 1 E B OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. To turn the unit on, turn the Volume Control knob A Clockwise. Turning the knob all the way to the right will produce the highest moisture. Turning to the left will produce lower moisture with longer run time. The power light will be on when plugged in. 2. Rotate the Mist Nozzle to the desired mist direction. C 3. When the humidifier runs out of water, the transducer will automatically shut off and the fan will keep running to dry any residual water out of the base D and chamber. 4. Once the tank is empty, turn the Power Off and unplug the unit. 5. Before refilling the tank, empty any residual water A. Tank from the base and tank. Follow daily maintenance B. CLEANING / MAINTENANCE CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS Humidifiers provide comfort by adding moisture to dry, heated indoor air. To benefit most from the humidifier and avoid product misuse, follow all instructions carefully. Please note that this is an electrical appliance and requires attention when in use. In addition, if you do not follow the recommended care and maintenance guidelines, micro-organisms may be able to grow in the water within the humidifier's tank. You must routinely follow the cleaning procedures that follow in order to ensure proper, efficient operation of your humidifier. Proper maintenance and cleaning is essential to the continued performance of your unit and the avoidance of algae or bacteria build-up. DAILY MAINTENANCE 1. Be sure the unit is OFF and is disconnected from the electrical outlet. 2. Remove the tank from the humidifier and place in sink or tub. 3. Drain any remaining water and rinse thoroughly to remove any sediment or dirt. Wipe clean and dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. 4. Refill with cool tap water. Do not overfill. WEEKLY MAINTENANCE To Remove Scale: 1. Repeat steps 1-3 above. 2. Clean the base by partially filling it with one 8-oz cups of undiluted white vinegar. Leave this solution in the tank for 20 minutes, while cleaning all interior surfaces with a soft brush. Gently scrub the area around the transducer with a soft brush. Remove the scale by wiping the entire base with a cloth dampened with undiluted white vinegar. 3. Rinse clean with warm water to remove cleaning solution before disinfecting the tank. To Disinfect Tank 1. Fill humidifier tank 1/2 full with water and 1/2 tablespoon of chlorine bleach. 2. Let the solution stand for 20 minutes, swishing every few minutes. Wet all surfaces. 3. Carefully empty the tank after 20 minutes, and rinse with warm water until you can not detect any bleach smell. Dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. 4. Refill the water tank as directed in Operating Instructions, and turn the unit on. STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS When not using your humidifier for an extended period of time: 1. Clean, rinse and thoroughly dry the humidifier as directed in weekly maintenance. DO NOT leave any water in the unit when storing. Leaving water in the unit may render the unit inoperable for the following season. 2. Place the humidifier in the original carton and store in a cool, dry place. Apague y desenchufe la unidad antes de quitar el tanque de agua y moverla. 16. Este humidificador requiere mantenimiento diario y semanal para funcionar correctamente. Una vez utilizada la unidad, no la mueva hasta que se haya enfriado completamente. 27. Use las dos manos cuando cargue el tanque de agua. LEA Y CONSERVE ESTAS IMPORTANTES INSTRUCCIONES DE SEGURIDAD INFORMACIÓN DE SEGURIDAD PARA EL CONSUMIDOR NOTA: Este es un artefacto eléctrico y requiere ser usado con cuidado. CARACTERISTICA - FUNCIONAMIENTO • Todo cambio o modificación que no haya sido expresamente autorizado por la parte responsable de exigir el cumplimiento podría anular la autoridad del usuario para usar el equipo. INSTRUCCIONES PREVIAS AL USO 1. Asegúrese de que el humidificador esté apagado (la perilla girada totalmente hacia la izquierda). 2. Elija un lugar para su humidificador, en una superficie plana, aproximadamente a 4 pulgadas de distancia de la pared. NO coloque el humidificador sobre un piso pulido o cerca de algún mueble, ya que lo puede dañar por el exceso de humedad o agua. Colóquelo sobre una superficie resistente a la humedad. 3. Retire el tanque de la caja principal. 4. Lleve el tanque al fregadero, colóquelo boca abajo y abra la tapa del tanque al hacerla girar en sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj. Llene el tanque con agua dulce y fría del grifo. NO llene el tanque con agua tibia porque esto podría causar pérdidas. Coloque nuevamente la tapa del tanque FIRMEMENTE. El tanque tiene una capacidad de 1/3 de galón de agua. El humidificador producirá hasta 1 galones de humedad por un período aproximado de 24 horas. 5. Coloque el tanque nuevamente sobre la base. El tanque comenzará a vaciarse inmediatamente en la base. 6. Enchufe el humidificador en un tomacorriente de 120V. base de todo resto de agua. Siga las instrucciones de mantenimiento diario. 6. Llene el tanque con agua dulce y fría del grifo. NO llene el tanque con agua tibia porque esto podría causar pérdidas. Coloque nuevamente la tapa del tanque FIRMEMENTE. 7. Coloque el tanque sobre la base. El tanque comenzará a vaciarse de inmediato en la base. 8. Enchufe el humidificador en un tomacorriente de 120V. ADVERTENCIA: NO mueva el humidificador cuando tenga agua en el tanque o en la base. La acción de movimiento podría activar la boquilla de descarga del tanque de agua y saturar la cavidad del transductor. Si sucediera, el humidificador funcionaría intermitentemente y dejaría de emitir vapor. En este caso, simplemente elimine el exceso de agua de la base del humidificador. IMPORTANTE: Si piensa que no va a utilizar el humidificador durante dos o más días, asegúrese de drenar el agua residual del tanque de agua y de la base para evitar el crecimiento de algas o bacterias en agua estancada. Asegúrese de que el tanque esté seco. Figura 1 E B A INSTRUCCIONES DE USO 1. Para encender la unidad, haga girar la perilla de control de volumen en el sentido de las agujas del C reloj. Al girar la perilla totalmente hacia la derecha, se producirá el mayor porcentaje de humedad. Al girar la perilla hacia la izquierda, se producirá menor D porcentaje de humedad durante con un tiempo de uso más prolongado. Se encenderá la luz de encendido cuando la unidad esté enchufada. 2. Haga girar la boquilla de vapor en la dirección deseada. 3. Cuando el humidificador se quede sin agua, el transductor se apagará de manera automática y seguirá funcionando el ventilador a fin de secar el A. Tanque B. Asa C. Base del Humidificador D. Antes de llenarlo nuevamente, vacíe el tanque y la INSTRUCCIONES DE LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO NOTA: Para evitar el uso de polvo blanco sólo use agua destilada especialmente si: A) usted sufre de problemas respiratorios o B) que vive en una zona donde el agua tiene un alto contenido de minerales. INSTRUCCIONES DE LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO Los humidificadores proveen confort agregando humedad al aire seco de los ambientes interiores calefaccionados. Para beneficiarse al máximo de los humidificadores y evitar su mal uso, siga todas las instrucciones cuidadosamente. Tenga en cuenta que éste es un artefacto eléctrico que requiere atención cuando esté en uso. Además, si no se siguen las recomendaciones para el cuidado y mantenimiento, crecerán microorganismos en el agua dentro de los tanques. Se deben ejecutar rutinariamente los procedimientos de limpieza que se indican a continuación para asegurar el funcionamiento adecuado y eficiente del humidificador que son esenciales para el rendimiento óptimo constante de la unidad y para evitar la formación de algas y bacterias. MANTENIMIENTO DIARIO 1. Asegúrese de apagar y desenchufar la unidad del tomacorriente. 2. Quite el tanque del humidificador y colóquelo en el fregadero o en la tina. 3. Drene todo resto de agua y enjuague cuidadosamente para sacar todo sedimento o suciedad. Límpielos frotando con un paño y séquelos con una toalla de tela o de papel. 4. Vuelva a llenar el tanque con agua fría del grifo. No lo llene de más. MANTENIMIENTO SEMANAL Para extraer el sarro : 1. Repita los pasos 1 al 3 anteriores. 2. Limpie la base llenándola parcialmente con una taza de 250 ml (8 oz.) de vinagre blanco sin diluir. Deje reposar esta solución en la base por 20 min. mientras limpia todas las superficies interiores con un cepillo blando. Friegue suavemente el área que rodea el transductor con un cepillo blando. Quite el sarro frotando la base con un trapo humedecido con vinagre blanco sin diluir. 3. Enjuague con agua tibia limpia para extraer la solución limpiadora antes de desinfectar el tanque. Desinfectar el tanque 1. Llene cada tanque hasta la mitad con agua y 1/2 cucharadita de blanqueador de cloro. 2. Deje que la solución trabaje por 20 minutos, sacudiendo los tanques de vez en cuando. Moje todas las superficies. 3. Vacíe cuidadosamente la base y los tanques después de 20 minutos y enjuague hasta que ya no se pueda detectar el olor a cloro. Seque con una tela limpia o con toalla de papel. 4. Vuelva a cargar el tanque de agua como se indica en las Instrucciones de Funcionamiento, y encienda la unidad. INSTRUCCIONES PARA GUARDAR Cuando no utilice su humidificador durante un período prolongado de tiempo : 1. Limpie y seque bien el humidificador según se detalla anteriormente en la sección: instrucciones de mantenimiento semanales. NO deje agua dentro de la unidad cuando guarde el humidificador. Si queda agua, la unidad podría quedar inutilizable para la próxima temporada. 2. Coloque el humidificador en su empaque original y guárdelo en un lugar fresco y seco.
