MAINTENANCE CLEANING THE HEDGE TRIMMER Make sure the switch trigger is locked out in the off position. Slide the scabbard over the blade. Clean dirt and debris from the body of the hedge trimmer, using a damp cloth with a mild detergent. NOTE: Do not use any strong detergents on the plastic housing or the handle. They can be damaged by certain aromatic oils such as pine and lemon, and by solvents such as kerosene. Moisture can cause a shock hazard. Wipe off any moisture with a soft dry cloth. Use a small brush or the air discharge of a small vacuum cleaner brush to clear dust or debris from the air vents on the motor housing. STORING THE HEDGE TRIMMER See Figure 8. Clean the hedge trimmer thoroughly before storing. Store the hedge trimmer in a dry, well-ventilated place that is inaccessible to children. Keep away from corrosive agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts. Always place the scabbard on the cutting blades before storing. BATTERIES This product is equipped with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Length of operation from each charging will depend on the type of work you are doing. The battery in this product has been designed to provide maximum trouble-free life. However, like all batteries, it will eventually wear out. To obtain the longest possible battery life, we suggest the following: Remove the charging cable from the product once it is fully charged and ready for use. For product storage longer than 30 days: Store the product where the temperature is below 80°F and away from moisture. Store product in a 30%-50% charged condition. Every six months of storage, charge the product as normal. BATTERY PACK REMOVAL AND PREPARATION FOR RECYCLING Drain the battery by running the tool until it shuts off. Look for the Phillips head screws near the charging port to locate the battery compartment door. Unscrew the screws and remove the battery compartment door. Pull the battery out of the tool and separate it from the two wire connectors. Apply tape over the ends of the wire connectors for battery disposal. To preserve natural resources, please recycle or dispose of batteries properly. This product contains lithium-ion batteries. Local, state or federal laws may prohibit disposal of batteries in ordinary trash. Consult your local waste authority for information regarding available recycling and/or disposal options. WARNING: Upon removal, cover the battery pack's terminals with heavy-duty adhesive tape. Do not attempt to destroy or disassemble battery pack or remove any of its components. Lithium-ion batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly. Also, never touch both terminals with metal objects and/or body parts as short circuit may result. Keep away from children. Failure to comply with these warnings could result in fire and/or serious injury.
