MAINTENANCE CLEANING THE ENGINE See Figures 65 - 68. Clean the cylinder fins and flywheel fins with compressed air or a brush periodically. Dangerous overheating of the engine may occur due to impurities on the cylinder. FRONT HAND GUARD SCREW FUEL CAP CHAIN OIL CAP WARNING Never run the saw without all the parts, including the clutch cover and starter housing, securely in place. Because parts can fracture and pose a danger of thrown objects, leave repairs of the flywheel and clutch to factory trained authorized service center personnel. Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious personal injury. n Remove the screws and cylinder cover as described previously. n Clean the cylinder fins. n Remove the screw from the front hand guard post. n Lift the front hand guard over the post. n Lay the chain saw on its side with the bar and chain on the ground. n Remove the chain oil and fuel caps. n Remove the three screws that hold the starter housing in place. n Lift off the starter cover and set aside. n Replace chain oil and fuel caps to prevent con- tamination during cleaning. n Clean the flywheel fins. n Remove the chain oil and fuel caps. n Replace the starter housing. Reinstall screws and secure. n Replace the chain oil and fuel caps. n Replace the cylinder cover. Reinstall screws and secure. NOTE: Check to ensure that the air filter is in the proper position before reinstalling the cylinder cover. n Replace the front hand guard on the post. n Reinstall screw into front hand guard post; tighten securely. CLEANING THE ENGINE
See Figures 65 - 68.
Clean the cylinder fins and flywheel fins with
compressed air or a brush periodically. Danger-
ous overheating of the engine may occur due to
impurities on the cylinder.
WARNING
Never run the saw without all the parts, including
the clutch cover and starter housing, securely
in place.
Because parts can fracture and pose a danger
of thrown objects, leave repairs of the flywheel
and clutch to factory trained authorized service
center personnel. Failure to follow these instruc-
tions could result in serious personal injury.
Remove the screws and cylinder cover as
described previously.
Clean the cylinder fins.
Remove the screw from the front hand guard
post.
Lift the front hand guard over the post.
Lay the chain saw on its side with the bar and
chain on the ground.
Remove the chain oil and fuel caps.
Remove the three screws that hold the starter
housing in place.
Lift off the starter cover and set aside.
Replace chain oil and fuel caps to prevent con-
tamination during cleaning.
Clean the flywheel fins.
Remove the chain oil and fuel caps.
Replace the starter housing. Reinstall screws
and secure.
Replace the chain oil and fuel caps.
Replace the cylinder cover. Reinstall screws and
secure.
NOTE:
Check to ensure that the air filter is in the
proper position before reinstalling the cylinder
cover.
Replace the front hand guard on the post.
Reinstall screw into front hand guard post;
tighten securely.
