MAINTENANCE Winter use Running problems can occur when using the machine in the cold and snowy conditions caused by: • Too low engine temperature. • Icing of the air filter and carburettor. Special measures are therefore often required: • Preheat the intake air to the carburettor by using the heat from the cylinder. • Partly mask the air inlet on the starter to increase the working temperature of the engine. Fitting the winterising kit Cut out a hole using a knife as shown. Temperature 0°C or colder: Move the cover from position A to position B so that preheated air from the cylinder can pass into the carburettor compartment and prevent, e.g. the air filter icing up again. When fitting the winter cover in position B the centrifugal cleaning nozzle is blocked. This measure requires the air filter to be cleaned more regularly. Fit the winter cover in the cylinder cover. If the special winterising kit has been fitted or any measures have been taken to increase the temperature these changes must be reversed before the machine is used in normal temperature conditions.
