Basic storage partitioning The following illustration shows the functionality of partitioning. Partitioning the storage provides flexible management of available storage by subdividing the storage into separate independent sections or partitions. It also enables you to consolidate the storage from multiple host systems into one or more FAStT500 RAID Controller Enclosure Units and amortize the cost of the storage across the connected hosts rather than having one host incur the total cost of the storage.
