5.1 Surround Sound Receiver Connecting headphones To connect headphones: 1 Plug headphones into the PHONES jack on the front of your receiver. Caution • • • Make sure that you use speakers with an impedance of 6 ~ 16 ohms. Do not let the bare speaker wires touch each other or any metal part on your receiver. This could damage your receiver or the speakers. Never touch the speaker jacks when the power cord is connect to a power outlet. This could cause an electric shock. Front right Front left Center 2 Press SPEAKER on the front of your receiver to turn off the connected speakers. Warning Do not set the volume too high when using headphones. You can damage your hearing. Note When listening to a DTS or Dolby Digital program source with the headphones are plugged in and the speakers are turned off, your receiver enters two-channel downmix mode automatically. Connecting speakers Be sure to connect speakers firmly and correctly according to the channel (left and right) and the polarity (+ and -). If the connections are faulty, no sound will be heard from the speakers, and if the polarity of the speaker connection is incorrect, the sound will be unnatural and lack bass. For information about speaker placement, see "Placing the speakers" on page 12. After installing the speakers, first adjust the speaker settings according to your environment and speaker layout. Connecting headphones
To connect headphones:

Plug headphones into the
PHONES
jack on the
front of your receiver.

Press
SPEAKER
on the front of your receiver to
turn off the connected speakers.
Connecting speakers
Be sure to connect speakers firmly and correctly
according to the channel (left and right) and the
polarity (+ and -). If the connections are faulty, no
sound will be heard from the speakers, and if the
polarity of the speaker connection is incorrect, the
sound will be unnatural and lack bass. For

Strip away approximately 3/8 inch (10 mm) of
wire insulation, then twist the wire ends tight.
