Installing and Replacing Desktop Board Components Installing an MCH Heat Sink Fan (Optional) If your system application requires more MCH cooling than that provided by the MCH passive heat sink, you can add a fan to the heat sink by using the included MCH heat sink fan mounting bracket. This fan mounting bracket is designed to accomodate a 40 mm x 10 mm or 40 mm x 20 mm, 12 V dc fan. You can use the board's 3-pin MCH fan header to supply power to the MCH fan. NOTE An MCH heat sink fan is not included with Desktop Board DX38BT and must be purchased separately. To install an MCH heat sink fan, follow these instructions: 1. Observe the precautions in "Before You Begin" on page 29. 2. Attach the fan (Figure 16, A) to the fan mounting bracket (Figure 16, B) using the fasteners (Figure 16, A) supplied with the fan. Slide the four legs of the bracket over the heat sink fins (Figure 16, C) and push down until the backet "clicks" into place. 3. Attach the fan power connector to the MCH fan header (Figure 16, D).
