RAID 0 provides the ability to support striping. Two physical drives, of identical size, can be teamed together to create one logical drive. As data is written or retrieved from the logical drive, both drives operate in parallel, thus increasing the throughput. RAID 1 provides the support of disk mirroring. Data is written simultaneously to two physical drives, of identical size, providing fault tolerance if one of the two drives fails. ✏ NOTE The ICH5-R provides support for RAID O, RAID 1 and RAID boot in Windows* XP and Windows 2000 only. 11

Change to Description of Section 1.7.3.3, Serial ATA RAID.
Addition of RAID 1 Support
Section 1.7.3.3 will change in its entirety as follows:
1.7.3.3
Serial ATA RAID
The ICH5-R supports RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Drives) level 0
and level 1 on the Serial ATA ports.
RAID 0 provides the ability to support
striping.
Two physical drives, of identical size, can be teamed together to create
one logical drive.
As data is written or retrieved from the logical drive, both
drives operate in parallel, thus increasing the throughput.
RAID 1 provides the
support of disk mirroring.
Data is written simultaneously to two physical drives,
of identical size, providing fault tolerance if one of the two drives fails.
NOTE
The ICH5-R provides support for RAID O, RAID 1 and RAID boot in
Windows* XP and Windows 2000 only.
