Installing the Mwave DSP MIDI software for Windows 2000 (ThinkPad models 760XD and 765D) To use the Mwave MIDI Synthesizer under Windows 2000, you will need to install the Mwave MIDI sample software and its sound data. If you no longer have the MIDI samples installed on your ThinkPad, you will need to download them from the IBM ThinkPad PC Support page. To install the Mwave MIDI software, follow these instructions below: 1. Turn on your computer, and then logon to Windows 2000 Professional with an Administrator user account. 2. Insert the disk labeled "Mwave MIDI Sample Diskette 1" into the diskette drive. 3. Click: Start ? Run. 4. Type A:\Setup.exe in the "Open" field, where A is the drive letter assigned to your diskette drive. 5. Press "Enter". 6. Follow the instructions on the screen. 7. When the MIDI installation completes, set the 'preferred device' for "MIDI Music Playback" to the Mwave MIDI Synthesizer. To set the preferred follow these steps: a. Click: Start ? Settings ? Control Panel. b. Double-click the Sounds and Multimedia applet, then click the 'Audio' tab. c. Verify that the Mwave MIDI Synthesizer appears under "Preferred device:" for "MIDI Music Playback". If not, select the Mwave MIDI Synthesizer entry in the list box, then click [OK]. 8. Restart Windows 2000 on your computer in order for the changes to take effect.
