Once the XML file is customized and installed, settings for the Rescue and Recovery program are managed with the registry or Active Directory. The following methods are used for restoring files: • "Single file restore" on page 13 • "File rescue" on page 14 • "Operating system and applications" on page 14 • "Restore system drive only" on page 14 • "Rejuvenation" on page 14 • "Full restore" on page 15 • "Custom recovery" on page 15 Notes: 1. The Rescue and Recovery program cannot capture cached credentials for a domain user after a restore operation. 2. On MBR systems, the Rescue and Recovery program cannot restore partitions that are created and placed physically before the system drive. 3. The Rescue and Recovery program does not support a full restore operation if you boot your system from another external medium. For example, if you perform a full restore operation from your USB hard disk drive, make sure that you boot your system from this USB hard disk drive as well. Single file restore Single file restore prompts the user for the Backup Storage location, and then the user selects a backup. The Rescue and Recovery program will display files that the user is authorized to access. XML and ADM file configurations
Configurations for the Rescue and Recovery program are done with the XML file, through the registry, and
with Active Directory. Once the XML file is customized and installed, settings for the Rescue and Recovery
program are managed with the registry or Active Directory. For more information, see the accompanying

Recovery methods
Within this section, you will find information for restore types and recovery methods such as rejuvenation,

Notes:
1. The Rescue and Recovery program cannot capture cached credentials for a domain user after a restore
operation.
2. On MBR systems, the Rescue and Recovery program cannot restore partitions that are created and
