OO OO When a 1/4" plug is inserted in the POWER AMP IN jacks, the internal connection between the mixer section and the amplifier section is cut. This completely separates the mixer from the amplifiers, and it allows you to connect an external equalizer, compressor or effects processor in-line between them as shown. With a plug inserted in the POWER AMP IN jacks, the amplifiers will only play the external signals plugged into them. With no plug inserted, the mixer section and the amplifier section are joined and the amplifiers play the mixer signals as normal. 408S 2 X 250W STEREO L POWER AMP IN MAINS R POWER AMP IN MONITOR LINE OUT L MIXER OUT R MIXER OUT COMPRESSOR OUT IN U +15 LEVEL TAPE IN L L TAPE OUT IN OUT External equalizer, compressor, or processor You might use these inputs to connect the outputs from the opening band's mixing board. This way you don't have to set up two sets of speakers; the other band can plug right into the PPM Series and use its amplifiers and connected speakers (see application diagram on page 13). MIXER LINE OUT This is a 1/4" connector that produces an unbalanced line-level signal. This signal is fed from the internal mixer bus, just after the MAIN MASTER control and MAIN EQUALIZER, and just before the POWER AMP IN jacks. You can use the MIXER LINE OUTs to connect a sec- ond power amplifier, giving you the option of adding more power and more speakers (see application diagram on R page 10). R MONITOR LINE OUT This is a 1/4" connector that produces an unbalanced line-level signal. This signal is fed from the internal monitor bus, just after the MONITOR MASTER control and MONITOR EQUALIZER. Use this connection to drive an external monitor amplifier and speakers, or to supplement the PPM Series' monitor amplifier (when the POWER AMP ROUTING switch is pushed in) with another amplifier and speakers (see application diagram on page 8). If you have an external device in-line as shown in the diagram above, make sure it does not increase the signal gain too much, or it may overload the amplifier section. The PPM meters only show the signal level coming from the internal mixer section; they will not show any changes in gain due to the external device. TAPE IN and TAPE OUT These are unbalanced RCA-type connectors that match those typically used on tape decks and CD players. Use RCA-to-RCA patch cables to make these connections.
