Version: 0.7, Date: 11 (2) Dec. 1996 Status: ToL, JaK, JaG, SIR, JoF • Never use a charger or battery which is damaged or worn out. • Use the battery for its intended purpose only. • Use only batteries and chargers approved by the phone manufacturer. When a charger is not in use disconnect it from the power source. Do not leave the battery connected to a charger for longer than a week, since overcharging may shorten its life. If left unused a fully charged battery will discharge itself in about a week at room temperature. • Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, such as in a closed car in summer or winter conditions, will reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery. Always try to keep the battery between 59°F (15°C) and 77°F (25°C). A phone with a hot or cold battery may temporarily not work (or charge), even when the battery is fully charged. The battery may require cooling or warming first. The performance of NiMH batteries is particularly limited in temperatures below 14°F (-10°C). • Do not short circuit the battery. Accidental short circuiting can occur when a metallic object (coin, clip or pen) causes direct connection of the + and - terminals of the battery (metal strips on the back of the battery) when you carry a spare battery in your pocket or purse. Short circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or the connecting object. • When the battery is not in use, store it uncharged in a cool and dark place. • Dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations. Recycle! • Do not dispose of batteries in a fire! NiCd NiMH Nickel Cadmium and Nickel Metal Hydride batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly. Must not be disposed of in municipal waste. 43 NHA-4NG Nokia 638_AU Authentication version US English 9351137 Issue 3

Never use a charger or battery which is damaged
or worn out.
Use the battery for its intended purpose only.
Use only batteries and chargers approved by the

disconnect it from the power source. Do not leave
the battery connected to a charger for longer than
a week, since overcharging may shorten its life. If

self in about a week at room temperature.
Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, such as

(15°C) and 77°F (25°C). A phone with a hot or
cold battery may temporarily not work (or charge),
even when the battery is fully charged. The bat-
tery may require cooling or warming first. The per-
formance of NiMH batteries is particularly limited in
temperatures below 14°F (-10°C).
Do not short circuit the battery. Accidental short
circuiting can occur when a metallic object (coin,
clip or pen) causes direct connection of the + and
- terminals of the battery (metal strips on the
back of the battery) when you carry a spare bat-
tery in your pocket or purse. Short circuiting the
terminals may damage the battery or the con-
necting object.
When the battery is not in use, store it uncharged
in a cool and dark place.
Dispose of used batteries in accordance with lo-
cal regulations. Recycle!
Do not dispose of batteries in a fire!
