Recording sound when shooting still images [R] B CAMERA MENU X R : K s Brightening the subject against backlight [SHADOW ADJ] B CAMERA MENU X SHADOW ADJ : K s b A Submenu 2 OFF ON Application No sound is recorded. The camera automatically starts recording for approx. 4 seconds after taking the picture. This is useful for recording notes or comments about the picture. When recording, aim the microphone (p. 6) at the source of the sound you want to record. Submenu 2 OFF ON Application Shoots without using [SHADOW ADJ]. The camera finds a person's face that has been darkened by backlight and makes it appear brighter for taking the picture. (Point the camera toward the subject. Check the frame that appears around the face detected by the camera, and then press the shutter button to take the picture.) Reducing the blur caused by the camera shake when shooting [IMAGE STABILIZER] (still images) / [DIS MOVIE MODE] (movies) B CAMERA MENU X IMAGE STABILIZER / DIS MOVIE MODE : K s b A For some subjects, the frame may not appear or may take some time to appear. When set to [ON], [ESP/n] (p. 29) is automatically fixed to [ESP], and [AF MODE] (p. 29) is automatically fixed to [FACE DETECT]. Submenu 2 OFF ON Application The image stabilizer is deactivated. This is recommended for shooting when the camera is fixed in place on a tripod or other stable surface. The image stabilizer is activated. The camera's default settings are [IMAGE STABILIZER] (still images) to [ON] and [DIS MOVIE MODE] (movies) to [OFF]. While [IMAGE STABILIZER] (still images) is set to [ON], noises may occur from the inside of the camera if the shutter button is pressed. Images may not be stabilized if camera shake is too severe. When the shutter speed is extremely slow, such as when taking still shots or taking pictures at night, the stabilizer may not be as effective. When shooting while the [DIS MOVIE MODE] (movie) is set to [ON], the image will be enlarged somewhat before saving. 30 EN
