[Solution] (1) Bring 30 on the bezel ruler and 10 on the dial ruler in line. (2) Read the number on the bezel ruler scale corresponding to 40 on the dial ruler scale. The number is 12 (= 1.2 x 10'). (3) Calculate the number of digits following the formula in "Hint for calculation of the number of digits".
