Getting Started To remove the battery Remove the battery as illustrated below. When using a rechargeable battery (for D-NE331 HK4, E18/1, CNA models only*) Charge the rechargeable battery before using it for the first time or when it is depleted. To maintain the original battery capacity longer, charge the battery only when it is completely depleted ("Low Battery" appears on the display). * For the area code of the model you purchased, check the upper left side of the bar code on the package. 1 Slide the OPEN switch to open the lid of your player. 2 Open the battery compartment lid inside the player. 3 Insert the NH-7WMAA rechargeable battery (supplied) by matching the end of the battery to the diagram in the battery compartment and close the lids of the battery compartment and the player until they click into place. 4 Connect the AC power adaptor to the DC IN 3 V jack of your CD player and an AC outlet, then press STOP/CHG to start charging. "Charging" indication flashes and the indicator sections of (battery) light up in succession. STOP/CHG to DC IN 3 V AC power adaptor to an AC outlet When the battery is completely charged, "Charging" disappears. Notes • Do not charge any rechargeable battery other than an NH-7WMAA. • If you press during charging, charging stops and playback of the CD starts. • If you connect the AC power adaptor to the player during playback, play stops. • During charging, the player and the rechargeable battery become hot. This poses no danger. • Take out the rechargeable battery when the player is not to be used for a long time. Continued 13
