◆ AUDIO (HDMI) Selects the type of audio signal output from the HDMI OUT jack. AUTO Normally, select this. Outputs audio signals according to the "DIGITAL OUT" settings (page 66). Converts Dolby Digital, or 96 kHz/24 bit PCM signals to 48 kHz/16 bit PCM. Settings for the Sound (AUDIO SETUP) "AUDIO SETUP" allows you to set the sound according to the playback and connection conditions. Select "AUDIO SETUP" in the Setup Display. To use the display, see "Using the Setup Display" (page 60). The default settings are underlined. AUDIO SETUP AUDIO ATT: OFF AUDIO DRC: STANDARD AUDIO FILTER: SHARP DOWNMIX: DOLBY SURROUND DIGITAL OUT: ON D-PCM DOLBY DIGITAL: DTS: OFF 48kHz/16bit 48kHz/96kHz PCM: PCM Note A loud noise (or no sound) will be output if you connect the player to a TV that is not compatible with DOLBY DIGITAL/DTS signals and "AUTO" is selected. In this case, select "PCM." ◆ AUDIO ATT (attenuation) If the playback sound is distorted, set this item to "ON." The player reduces the audio output level. This function affects the output of the LINE OUT L/R (AUDIO) jacks. OFF ON Normally, select this position. Select this when the playback sound from the speakers is distorted. Settings and Adjustments ◆ AUDIO DRC (Dynamic Range Control) (DVD VIDEO/DVD-VR mode only) Makes the sound clear when the volume is turned down when playing a DVD that conforms to "AUDIO DRC." This function affects the output from the following jacks: - LINE OUT L/R (AUDIO) jacks - DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL or COAXIAL)/ HDMI OUT jack only when "DOLBY DIGITAL" is set to "D-PCM" (page 66). STANDARD Normally select this position. TV MODE WIDE RANGE Makes low sounds clear even if you turn the volume down. Gives you the feeling of being at a live performance. ,continued 65
