Selecting the flash mode 1 When you want to fire the flash, press the (flash popup) button to pop up the flash. • When you do not intend to use the flash, push it back in place with your finger. 2 Select MENU t [Camera] t [Flash Mode]. (flash pop-up) button 3 Turn the control wheel to select the desired mode, and press the center. (Flash Off): Does not fire even if the flash is raised. (Autoflash): Fires in dark environments or when shooting towards bright light. (Fill-flash): Fires every time you trigger the shutter. (Slow Sync.): Fires every time you trigger the shutter. Slow sync shooting allows you to shoot a clear image of both the subject and the background. (Rear Sync.): Fires right before the exposure is completed every time you trigger the shutter. A trailing image of the movement of the subject is captured to make more natural image. (Wireless): This mode is effective when you attach a remote controlcompatible external flash (sold separately) to the camera, and shoot with a wireless flash (sold separately), placed away from the camera. • The selectable items of the flash mode depends on the shooting mode (page 64). Notes • When the camera is charging the flash, blinks on the LCD screen. You cannot GB press the shutter button when this icon is blinking. 48
