Connecting to audio equipment You can enjoy high quality dynamic sounds by connecting the player to audio equipment. The connecting method depends on the types of audio input, digital or audio. Select the method according to the type of your equipment. Caution • When you connect the player to other equipment, be sure to turn off the power and unplug all of the equipment from the wall outlet before making any connections. • Turn off the amplifier before you connect or disconnect the player's power cord. If you leave the amplifier power on, the speakers may be damaged. • The output sound of the player has a wide dynamic range. Be sure to adjust the receiver's volume to a moderate listening level. Otherwise, the speakers may be damaged by a sudden high volume sound. Notes • Refer to the owner's manual of the connected equipment as well. • If you place the player near a tuner or radio, the radio broadcast sound might be distorted. In this case, place the player away from the tuner and radio. 64 Connecting to an AV amplifier (via digital audio input) Signal flow To BITSTREAM/PCM Optical digital cable (not supplied) The following audio systems are compatible: ŋ Dolby Digital ŋ DTS ŋ MPEG2 audio ŋ 2 channel digital stereo AV amplifier Make the following setting.
