4.4 MDC Modem 4.4 MDC Modem 4 Replacement Procedures Removing the MDC Modem The following describes the procedure for removing an MDC modem (See Figure 4-5). CAUTION:Since the MDC slot cover is easily broken, remove the memory cover first before removing the MDC slot cover. When replacing the MDC mode, The power must be turned off when you remove the MDC modem. Removing an MDC modem with the power on risks damaging the modem or the computer itself. 1. Turn the computer upside down. 2. Loosen the screw (with e-ring) securing the MDC slot cover and remove the cover. 3. Remove the following screws fixing the MDC modem. • M2x4Z BIND screw x2 4. Lift up the MDC modem to remove it from the connector on the system board. 5. Remove the MDC cable from the connector on the MDC modem.
