Common Issues If your phone is not performing to your expectations, please try these simple steps first. If these steps do not solve your problem, please call our Customer Hotline (see the back cover for contact information). Symptom The charge LED won't illuminate when the handset is placed in the cradle. Can't make or receive calls. The Caller ID does not display. The handset doesn't ring or receive a page. You cannot register the handset at the base. Suggestion • Make sure the AC adapter is plugged into the base or the charger (if you have more than one handset) and wall outlet. • Make sure the AC outlet is not connected to a wall switch. • Make sure the handset is properly seated in the cradle. • Make sure the charging contacts on the handset are clean. • Make sure that you are not too far from the base. • Make sure the line is not in use. If an outside call is already using a line, you cannot use that line to make another outside call. • Make sure your handset is registered to the base. • Check the telephone cord connection. If CHECK TEL LINE appears on the handset display, the telephone cord may not be connected correctly. • Make sure the AC adapter is plugged into the base and wall outlet. • Disconnect the AC adapter and reconnect. • The call was placed through a switchboard. • Call your telephone provider to verify your Caller ID service is current. There may be a problem with your Caller ID service. • Make sure that you are not too far from the base. • Make sure that your handset is registered to the base. • Charge the battery in the handset for 15 to 20 hours. • Charge the battery pack in the handset for 15 to 20 hours. • Try resetting the handset (see Resetting the Handset on page 48). 50
